Keep your brushes safe and happy!

Another why didn't someone think of this before moment!
The Brush Guard is the solution to keeping my makeup brushes reshaped and protected after cleaning.
I have spent a small fortune on my brushes and clean them well after each client. (of course!)  This ingenious mesh slips over my brushes allowing air to circulate while they dry and prevents dust from settling on them. The Brush Guard is perfect for storage and keeping brushes safe during travel to jobs.
My investment is protected by returning my brushes to a "like new" state after cleaning.
Hands down, my fave new tool this year for my kit!
Cheap and cheerful at just $5.50 per pack.

Chocolate Facial

Combine beauty treatments with chocolate and you've entered into a whole new realm of pampering. Edible beauty, it's fun yet guilt free decadence.
Cocoa has been linked to increased serotonin levels, a brain chemical that makes us feel relaxed.
Adam Drewnowski of the University of Michigan says, "We want chocolate in times of stress, anxiety, pain and so on. Chocolate is a natural analgesic, or pain killer."

So slather this one on with the kids and relax...
your girlfriends or hubby may be game for this one too!

Chocolate Facial Mask

This recipe is courtesy of Practically Green by Micaela Preston
2 T unsweetened cocoa powder
2 T plain yogurt
1 T honey
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Apply to face and neck, avoiding eye area. Kick back, relax and enjoy the delicious aroma for about 15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

*(You can kick it up a notch as Emeril would say by adding 2 tbs pureed or powdered oatmeal)

Oatmeal is very soothing to sensitive skin. Honey deeply cleanses your skin, unclogs pores and is a great anti-bacterial agent. Chocolate contains beneficial anti oxidants too!
Enjoy.

Summer Faves

It's "Summertime and the livin' is easy"...
My beauty products are pared downed to just "the bare necessities of life".
I'm unapologetically happy and singing about my current faves:
In my purse right now...
Burts Bees tinted lip balm, It's my current go to for the hydrating shea butter packed formula ease of application and pretty color payoff.
It's cheap and cheerful at just $7. a tube.
My pal Karen (of DesignVidal fame) and I both simultaneously pulled out our b.b. lip tint at Legoland yesterday to show each other! So funny.
Honeysuckle a perfect nude, Rose a subtle cherry popsicle colored tint

Color Science-"Sunforgettable mineral powder" sun protection spf 50
A fab brush on mineral powder with UVA and UVB sun protection. The brush on sheer formula means reapplying sunscreen is a breeze, even over makeup. Kid friendly to boot as it's safe and no stinging eyes. So my son and I can both agree on it. Yay!

Crazy Good Natural Lip Tint!

Tarte does it again! LipSurgence™ natural matte lip tint
"LipSurgence™ technology quickly absorbs into the skin delivering a surge of moisture on a cellular level while boosting peptides stimulate skin's own regenerative system and assist in the formation of collagen." No parabens or mineral oil either.
I adore "Hope" and "Exposed" for nude lips and "Fiery" for a red statement with a clean face! This matte version is so pretty and feels hydrating while looking super modern and fresh! I love to use matte "Lipsurgence" to contrast a dewy summer face with a swipe of gel blush.

Tom Ford Lipstick Obsession

A Valentine to yourself...
Tom Ford's fabulous luxurious red lip color.
"Cherry Lush" lips, luminous skin, a wash of eye color topped with a touch of mascara and you are set. A present to be savored.
The story goes when Tom Ford was researching the looks for "A Single Man" he loved the period lip colors and recreated them for his new line. He even wore them on himself testing for wearability, texture and color (complete with beard)! Now that's an obsession I can respect and covet.
Available at Nordstrom. $45.
